Born on January 22, 1938, in New York City, to Anson McCook Beard, Jr. and Roseanne Beard, the middle of three sons. A great-grandfather, James Jerome Hill, was founder of the Great Northern Railway in the late nineteenth/early twentieth centuries, and a patron of the arts whose extensive art collection included works by Corot, Rousseau, Courbet, Daumier, and Delacroix. |
